Charles Lining Papers, 1793-1806.

Consisting of two letters, 11 May 1793 and 30 Jan. 1797, Charleston, S.C., to William Vernon, Newport, R.I., re a legal case in which Lining was acting as Vernon's lawyer, explaining that he did not attend court in Georgetown, S.C., and had referred the matter to lawyers there, stating that he was uncertain why the case was not heard, and discussing his suit against Mr. Hart of Georgetown, explaining that other lawyers had handled the case. Document, 12 Jan. 1803, Charleston, S.C., appointing David Oliphant as executor of estate of John Morrison; and 25 Apr. 1806, appointing Eliza Grimball executrix of the estate of her husband, John Grimball.
